Kids For Kindness: Donate Toys

Week one of Kids for Kindness has begun! This week's challenge was an easy one, as it's something I do with the kiddos every season.  This week's challenge was to go through all toys and put aside any used or unwanted toys to donate to a shelter or child in need.  Even though the girl kiddo is still a bit too young to understand, the boy kiddo has done this many times and graciously gives when each season. The selected toys have gone to various charities including children of domestic violence, military families and homeless shelters.

The boy kiddo rounded up a pile of pirates, boats, dinos, trains and cars to give away. We sanitized and washed each toy and made sure all parts were safely secured and working. We like to make sure the toys we share are in good condition so other's are able to enjoy them just as they were when new.

The girl kiddo got involved as well after some urging from her big brother. He helped her sort through the heaps of stuffed animals and collected a bunch to share. We washed and dried all our furry friends and packed up everything we wanted to give.  The boy kiddo, who has no shortage of playthings, is always willing to share and give the toys that he has loved so much. We hope these toys can bring big smiles to little faces! In the meantime, my heart is once again bursting with pride.

Looks like you have a nice amount to give. We have not had a chance to do this yet, but still hope to.

What a nice habit to get your kiddos into. And I'm extra impressed that you take the time to clean and sanitize them all first. That makes sense, but I have to admit that I don't think I've done that in the past when I've donated toys. Oops! Will do that in the future...

That way people can comment back and you won't think they're ignoring you :)
